Ippocalyptica I had strong doubts as to whether Cepheide could top Respire, but the thing about expectations is that they are often meant to be blown away, and with Les Échappées, this is precisely what has happened. Exceptional tremolo melodies rush forth from a lush post-black metal tapestry, moving effortlessly between both hyper speed and relatively subdued tempos as well as between melancholic and triumphant melodies. The Nazgul vocals are still present, too. Excellent atmospheric black metal! Favorite track: L'Oubli.

Cepheide formed in Paris in the fall of 2013 as an atmospheric black metal project, eager to create abrasive but passionate and emotional music. Participating in projects from different musical backgrounds, Gaetan Juif (alias Joseph Apsarah) aims to mix his various influences and shape the result into a sound his own.

Les Échappées is about the emotional responses from the body in its multiple impulses, either offensive or defensive, directed towards the “other” or oneself.
