Ippocalyptica A significant improvement upon Jours Pâles’ debut album, Tensions is one of the finest melodic black metal / post-metal albums of the year, effortlessly combining driving rhythms with almost pop-friendly melodies to devastating effect. This could almost be radio-friendly, and on a superficial level, it makes for relatively “easy” listening, but make no mistake, there is a lot going on here, and it is metal as fuck. Nothing like French BM as you know it, this still deserves your respect. Favorite track: 03. Ecumante de rage.

Paintingmantis Straight out Éclosion being one of my favourite releases of 2021. This just gets better & better with every listening. There’s something really special happening here & it’s like nothing else out there. Love it!
